RE: General fanfic writing thread! - Ellie - 07-25-2026 So, no joke... I wasn't sure either, so I googled the phrase "tilting bamboo fountain" in the hopes I would hit upon the actual term... and that's literally what it's called. I assume this is the thing you're talking about? I love that we're starting to get more fanfics getting written now that we have a community to chat about it. It sounds like that will be a fun one to check out, and I'm very familiar with second-guessing and going back to change things. Very much guilty of that with mine! (it was on the thread for the fanfic I gave up on) RE: General fanfic writing thread! - Ellie - 07-27-2026 Sure thing! A guide to properly flowing dialogue into narrative: Mikoto cleared her throat. "Well, yeah, but the narrative can fully end its sentence if the quote follows it." "Right, and the quote generally ends in a comma if it comes first and the action of the narrative finishes off the quote," Takeru added. "Or end the sentence normally if it doesn't!" "Oh." Takeru perked up suddenly. "If the character's action isn't specifically describing how they said their line, but just what they're doing at the same time, then the quote before it can just end as a sentence." And then they probably had hot demon sex or something. Not directly related to writing but still related to dialogue, there's a new feature in our quote formatting on this site where you can format a character's quote like it was appearing in the game: > [name] text 【Takeru】
This is exactly what I'm talking about, Mikoto. This is a way you can quote characters on the forum. RE: General fanfic writing thread! - lonesomebro - 07-30-2026 So I've gotten to a point in my writing where I can share what passes for a plot point, and I want input about whether or not this would complicate an otherwise simple idea too much. @Suiisbestgirl, this is related to Muramasa so you might have the best input. To make this as short as I can, At this point, I could go one of two ways. One, Oboro remains Oboro. In this version, Meiouki's rape is extremely brutal, in the vein of Nightmare's scenes in the game (you know, innards being pulverized, bones snapping, the girls almost dying before being "saved" by having their insides replaced with demon organs. Two, Meiouki stealing the swordmaster's essence causes Oboro to revert to Momohime, restoring her memories partly or entirely. Technically the horror sex still happens to Oboro persona, but offscreen, and Momohime wouldn't remember it, so from her perspective she still has wild but much more enjoyable sex with her new oni master to start her life as a top of the line seedbed. Which seems preferable? (The reason I don't want to include both sex scenes in full if Oboro's still happens offscreen in the second version is that they'd be very similar) Addendum: I did think of one specific idea for the Momohime option to make it more distinct than just tone of sex scene: Momohime's memories return, but only up to the point where her family is attacked in a coup. Meiouki, surprised by his pity for her, takes advantage of her general ignorance to claim that she offered herself to him as a bride in return for an army to avenge her family. As a result, Momohime's end is basically Torahime but really really lewd. |
